Age and License Requirements
You must be 21 or older in order to rent a car in Colombia and have a valid driver’s license. Any license that is printed in a non-Roman alphabet must also be accompanied by an International Drivers Permit (IDP). Valid driver’s licenses from all European Union countries are acceptable. If you are an international customer, be sure to have your passport with you at the time of your car rental pick up.
Refueling
All vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel and should be refilled prior to their return. Rentals not returned full may have refueling charges apply. Alternatively, you may purchase a full tank of fuel at the time of rental at a price that is competitive with local fuel stations and return the tank empty.
One-Way Rentals
With our one-way car rental deals in Colombia, you can pick up in one city and drop off your rental car in another. One-way rentals are available within Colombia. International or cross-border one-way travel is not.
Driver Service
If you would like to focus on the beautiful cityscapes and let someone else do the driving, select a driver service option. With this option you have 8 hours per day of driver service. Please look at our website for further details and contact our customer service for additional requests.
Driving Tips
Colombia has a well-maintained network of roads that connect all major cities. Speed limits in residential areas are 30km/h and in urban areas it is 60km/h. The national speed limit is 80km/h with some specific areas being 100km/h when marked accordingly. November to February is rainy season which can cause some driving delays.
Crossing Borders
Cross-border travel to neighboring countries when you rent a car in Colombia is not allowed. This won’t be a problem though with so many amazing places to see and things to do within the country.
